I went shopping in Tesco to get messages, and I usually have a browse around the DVD and games section, see what they have on special. Tonight there wasn't that much, but I got Billy Bites Yer Bum Live and a copy of Quantum Redshift for the exbox. 10 quid for the dvd, 15 quid for the game. It looks like a Wipeout Fusion clone, dunno how good it is but for 15 quid it doesn't really matter.
Get my other stuff, pay for it and leave the checkout. I thought the bill was a little high, so I check the receipt on the way to the door. Sure enough the game has been charged at full price of 29.99, so I swing by the customer services desk and ask them about it. The game still had the big red price sticker on, so no doubt there.
Guy at the desk very apologetic, wanders away to poke at a terminal for a bit, comes back and asks if I have my credcard for the refund, I hand it over. It comes back with a refund for 29.99 on it. I look at the receipt, look at the guy puzzled. He must have picked up on this cos he tells me that as they made the mistake, I get a full refund, i.e. they're giving me the game for free, and 15 quid for the trouble. Well, I definately ain't complaining at that :)
Guess it makes good sense to check your receipts
