I hate all the girlie options that come standard with XP. I try to turn as many of them off as possible.

One that keeps popping up, cos I can never be arsed remembering the reg switch to modify, is the desktop cleanup wizard.

It's just popped up on my games machine, asking if I want to clean up my desktop. My desktop has precisely 5 icons on it. My documents, My Computer, My Network Places, Internet Explorer and Recycle Bin.

Just for a laugh, I decided to see what it wanted to clean up. It chose Internet Explorer, because I've never used it (I always use the quicklaunch icon).

So, windows, or microsoft, in your wonderful way, tell me how, precisely, does creating a folder called 'Unused Desktop Items' on my desktop, and moving one item into it constitute cleaning up my desktop? Internet Explorer is a smaller name than Unused Desktop Items, and I'd have to click twice to get IE open if you put it in there.

Bah, technology.
