things never quite go how they're supposed to....

Got down to my parents late on Friday night, they were still up and about, so I didn't wake them.

Saturday I mooched around in the morning, then went over to pick up the 2CV, and drop the Pug off for fixing. Went to get the tax for the 2cv, and was asked if I wanted it to run from the start of september, or from the beginning of August. As it was september on the Sunday, I said to run from then, even thought it meant I was technically untaxed for the day (it wasn't worth wasting a month's road tax on). As it turned out this was the right descision.

Got back to the garage, and they'd just round the locking wheel nut key, which was a good thing, in case I'd needed to change the wheel. Transferred all the stuff over from one car to the other and set off.

*vroom* The engine sounds amazing. It has only two volume settings, loud and even louder.

With one drawback...

About a mile down the road it started to lose power and make little hissy spitty noises with an almost total loss of power. Oh dear. Called Ian and told him, and he was none too chuffed, so he came out, and we towed it back to the garage again, whence the mechanic who was supposed to be fettling it ready for use will be doing a proper job, and also cleaning the crap out of one of the carbs (seems only one side of the engine was actually running at the time.

So, load everything back into the pug and take that home again, sans working airco. He's gonna give me a call and let me know when everything's fixed, so we can try again :)

Saturday evening was barbeque night at my parents, and we had friends round for lots and lots of meatfood. Yum. Ended up falling asleep curled up on the bed fully clothed. Woke up some time close to midnight and went to bed properly.

Sunday was spent mooching around again, then eventually got up and packed the car to head north again. Stopped by my sister's house to say hi, and then back to scotland.

Got back home at nearly half past 1 in the morning, after nearly running out of fuel, cos all the garages were shut on the road up.

Work again this morning, nasty software updates to all the pupil management software located in all the schools. Got till the 5th Spetember to finish that off as well.

Meeting tomorrow with the other bods in the school to see how they want supporting.

Blah. Me off now
