The sidelights on the Mazda also activate the main lights when they engine is running, so it's fairly visible, but obviously not as bright as proper dipped beam.

I have a friend who also drives everywhere with her dipped lights on, for the same reason. It was a habit she picked up while doing her advanced driving course.
