Today was the day of the mysterious disappearing print job. Two Minolta QMS colour printers, both of which decide its fun to lose jobs. Only these two, both in the same school. All the other ones, in other schools, are fine.
Fixed a few other problems while I was out there, including the obscure upside-down citrix icons.
I was reminded today that council employees get discounts at the Sterling Mills 'mawl'. Only on a Thursday, and only between 6 and 8pm. So I went for a peruse. It was very quiet, I think I only saw about a dozen people, all told. Still they had a few shoe shops, which is good, cos I've been after a new pair of shoes for a while, and didn't fancy spending another 3 months breaking in a new pair of DM's. Granted my 3 year old pair of DM's are just about perfect now, but they are falling to pieces. I tried a proper shoe shop first, they had one pair that would fit me, and then only just. I left again and wandered over to the Mountaineering place. They had some really nice hiking boots, probably impractical for every day wear, but still very nice. I did like that brown pair of Brashers, a snip at 68 quid. I might go back there, when I've more money :)
In the end it was the third place I went to that I was successful. After trying on about 6 pairs of size 12 shoes, I came to the comclusion that either I was not a size 12 any more, or they don't make shoes as big as they used to. In the end I found a pair of Ecco boot type things. They were the only comfy pair I found, so I bought them. With discount, 36 quid. Not bad at all. Still not sure about size, as these things are labelled as being size 48. But they fit, and that's the main thing. Still wouldn't have minded those Brashers though ;)
In other news, my modem got fried in the power out last night, cos the phones went out too. Modem itself is UPS powered, so it wasn't mains that did it. Oddly enough, the next door's modem was also fried last night, it no longer works either, only when his is plugged in, it takes out the phones too. I wonder if you can get compensation from BT for that sort of thing?
Tonight, it's just very windy. I went out to put the rubbish in the bin and it blew me off the doorstep, which is no easy task.
Oh yeah, I'm making a chilli just now. Not sure if I should eat some tonight, or leave it for the weekend though...
Mmmmm, chilli :)

Upside down icons,
take icon, open in pain, flip 180, resave, watch while support staff get annoyed! I loved being at uni!
And support staff are so... oh, erm, clever, they are great, I love them...
;)
